WELCOME

This year, like every year, it's a pleasure to write these lines and to welcome you all, because, for the Festival's organizational team, it means the next festival is about to kick off. This year is the ninth edition of Beefeater In-Edit to be held in Barcelona and it's worth casting our eyes back and confirming the place that's been made for music documentaries in this country. And this isn't just because over the years, beyond the festival's international development (this year marks the 24th inauguration of an In-Edit festival somewhere around the world), the genre has confirmed its growth, standardizing its existence on TV in many countries, generating new cinematic events in the world and gaining ground in the most traditional sector: the film festivals. So, the organization is delighted to keep on trucking and to be able to offer the best possible program, thanks to the work of the entire team (and let's not forget that international competition is increasingly fierce).

For this reason, the principal new feature we're presenting this year is precisely what is least talked about when we're asked about new elements: The program. It's worth highlighting that the great novelty in each edition is the new titles that inundate our screens with music and documentary cinema, because they constitute the backbone of the Festival and give meaning to what we do... As such, Beefeater In-Edit 2011 will feature around 45 newcomers. And that's no small number. We're offering so many because the organization believes in providing a wide-ranging, solid and high quality program.

Last year's festival also included many new features in the production sphere (new spaces and relocation of others) and in the contents (new sections and segments). For this reason, this year will be like last year, with the same sections and spaces, in order to improve and refine all the aspects within them. Highlights include the Music Documentary Market, the All-night Marathon, London's Backstage and Beefeater In-Edit Online.

At Beefeater In-Edit we've always tried to streamline the efficiency of what's on offer and to find our ideal size. Right now, the organization believes this 9-year-old Beefeater Inedit is the right size and has the right content.
